Nourish in Nature Retreats for Women will be held at Quinta Canaval eco boutique hotel. Features include - a natural swimming pool, eco accommodation, en-suite rooms, vegetable and herb garden, indoor and outdoor yoga spaces, natural swimming in the reservoir a short walk away and the same nutritious food prepared and cooked by us.

All the room are en-suite and we can offer shared (maximum of two) and individual occupancy, both twin rooms and doubles are available. Canaval has five bedrooms, and three private apartment spaces to accomodate guests. All the rooms are private and well appointed, with individual bathrooms. The three apartments also have individual living areas and kitchen facilities separate from the communal dining area.

The location is off-grid and uses solar generated electricity and hot water. The owner Mabel, has used as far as possible all locally sourced materials, furniture and builders. The walls of all the rooms is painted with non-toxic lime paints. the swimming pool is a natural salt water pool. As always we ask guests to be aware of water consumption and to bring natural, bio-degradable toiletries.


getting here

Please be aware that getting here generally involves a full day of travel; flight, transfer time and bus. Each retreat week will start with an evening meal on the Sunday. Check-in is anytime after 4pm on Sunday.

The bus from Lisbon is at 3.45pm arriving in Pedrogao Grande at 7.30pm. The bus from Porto is at 5pm, arriving in Pedrogao Grande at 7.30pm. Please plan your flights accordingly. Buses leave Pedrogao Grande on Saturday morning at 7.45am and 9am, this gives guests plenty of time for their connecting flights home, if traveling on the same day. Please note that the retreat price includes transfer from Pedrogao Grande upon arrival.

It is relatively easy to get to the bus station in each city, most young people speak english, and the bus web site is accurate and helpful. www.rede-expressos.pt/

In Lisbon you can catch a bus or taxi from the airport to Sete Rios bus station. In Porto the Rede Expressos terminal is nearest to 24 de Augusto metro station.

Please note that once you are here, public transport is very limited, and there are no local shops or ATM machines.

Please be aware that we are located in central Portugal and that travelling here generally takes a day including flight & check in time, then bus or drive. Please read through our getting here page for more detailed information on bus times from Lisbon and Porto. Please allow at least an hour for getting from the airport to the bus station in both cities though it probably wont take this long. In Lisbon the bus station is Sete Rios, in Porto, the Rede Expressos terminal is close to 24 de Augusto, on the metro line.

Transfer to and from our local bus station Pedrogao Grande is included in the price.

Please also be aware that we are an eco friendly retreat. We expect guests to be respectful of resources during their stay.

There are no ATM machines locally, please bring all the cash with you that you will need. Also to note that you are only able to withdraw 200 EUR at one time from Portuguese ATM machines.

Do bring sunscreen, a hat and a towel for swimming.

If possible bring biodegradable shower products as all the water runs onto the land. We will have some natural soaps, balms, and herbal products for sale during the retreat.

Warm clothing, we are high up and it does cool down at night. We really recommend you bring some warm clothes for evenings and morning yoga practice and relaxation time.

Insect repellent, we are close to the reservoir and have both midgies and mosquitos, all the beds have mosquito nets, but we recommend you bring some insect repellent with you.

Yoga mat if you prefer to use your own. We do have mats here.
