Guests enjoy a delicious and varied breakfast including fresh fruit, oat and fruit porridge, chia seed porridge, gluten free breads, homemade jams and marmalade, yogurt, served with organic herb teas, green and black tea or coffee.
We make a variety of gluten free breads for guests to enjoy with breakfast and lunch each day. See our blog for recipes and resources.
Most of the food we serve is vegan. If we do serve either cheese or eggs it is kept separate. Guests really do enjoy the local goat and sheep cheese that we use.
Every lunch we serve different raw dips and pates. Pictured here is a courgette (bean free) hoummus
Being a yoga retreat, we do need to have at least one curry night! Kerelan vegetable curry, pilau rice, Gabi's special dahl, home made aubergine pickle, freshly made chapati and cucumber raita.
A lot of the food we serve is raw, particularly in the hot summer months. Pictured here is courgette noodles with a raw kale & cashew pesto.
We do use both garlic and onion in our cooking, despite the fact they may be considered overly stimulating rajasic types of food. Rajas being the guna (energetic state of being) of activity, fire and stimulation.
Sattvic food is light and un-stimulating and would be the type of food traditionally prepared in an ashram or a meditation retreat, where practitioners are looking to drop into a deep and undisturbed state of being. As we are offering guests a nourishing holiday, we prepare wholesome and tasty food.
Our salads are unique, exciting, textured and colourful. Every day guests will be served with different salads. We use fruit, dried fruits, toasted seeds, sprouted seeds and edible flowers as well as a range of different salad leaves to create our wonderful salads.
We do make a delicious spanish omelette, a definite favourite for our guests. We offer hard boiled eggs for breakfast also, for anyone who is really missing their eggs.
The honey we have available for breakfast and as a sweetener is local honey, or our own honey which is raw unprocessed honey.
We are so lucky to have Sara's herbal tea blends on offer for guests during the week. Pictured here is her Vitality blend. Sara will also have her teas for sale during the retreats.
